Tony Romo Redeems Himself Playing Tough

After last week debacle which his fumble and ill-timed interception caused New York Jets to comeback and beat the Cowboys Tony Romo felt the heat from fans and the media. Despite performing well the label "choke" hung over his head questioning can he produce under pressure and be clutch when needed in the 4th quarter near the end of the game. On Sunday he redeemed himself. Playing against 49ers he gets taken out of the game when he got hit hard suffering rib injury. He came back in 4th quarter delivering a comeback from 10 points down to tie the game going into overtime. In overtime he made a clutch 77-yard throw to receiver Jesse Holley who took it to 49ers one yard line. It resulted game winning field goal giving the Cowboys a win 27-24. The next day it was revealed he played with a broken rib and punctured lung. Now that big balls. You hear that Jay Cutler? After a week of taking stinging criticisms an injured Tony Romo bounced back with a gutsy performance.

The hits continue for the Cowboys (and down a long slippery slope)

The run of bad luck continues for Dallas Cowboys. Needing a must-need moral lifting win they end up sinking lower than six feet the team dug below the ground to bury their playoffs shot. Not only they lost to drop 1-5 they happen to lost team leader Tony Romo to a broken clavicle and is likely to be out for the season. Unlike the first five games, the team played terribly putting up no fight til the final five minutes of the game. The only player that shined on the team was rookie Dez Bryant who gave the team much needed points with his three touchdowns. So far the Cowboys is most disappointing team this season. They have a good receiving core and three capable running backs yet they have no idea how to use any players of the system especially the running game. The defense been decent, but non-efficient as it couldn't make stops when it must-needed. The fault lies all above from the players for being careless, the coaches for lack of faith on the players and the plays especially the running game, and all the way up to the front office for not making transaction moves going with unproven players on the line and defense. After so much promise before the season turns out to be a nightmare as their season continues to sink down in despair.

Cowboys' Legends: Romo isn't Cowboys material

Another Dallas Cowboys legend isn't impressed with quarterback Tony Romo. Tony Dorsett mention on FOX Sports Radio he has no idea how Romo was anointed as NFL superstar. Mark that this is a third Cowboy legends to criticize him. Emmitt Smith doesn't think Romo has the leadership while Troy Aikman questioned him on what it takes to be a quarterback.

Comparing from what Romo has from the past few years to Cowboys dynasty its hard to believe they still haven't won a playoff game under Romo. Consider he been given Terrell Owens to throw to or giving the ball from Julius Jones to Marion Barber and several various choices now. It's either make or break for Romo. While he does have Jerry Jones support soon not only the legends but the Cowboys fans sees him as a guy that been given good lineup and failed to delivered.

Sport card of the week

Sport card of the Week
1989 Score Football #270 Troy Aikman

This one of key cards in this memorable football set. In fact I feel this is one of Score's signature cards.

Score made its debut in the sports card market back in 1988 putting out a very bland baseball set. When they decide to produce football cards in 1989 they made sure their cards stood out to the hobby. For the card design they printed out the players name with their team's helmet logo, position, and their photo. What really stood out the rookies on the set with the word "ROOKIE" splashed across the top of the card and their face portrait. Unlike Pro Set, which made its debut the same year, they limited produce the set.

The set would become a big hit among collectors especially with rookies like Troy Aikman.

For Aikman he became of many key figures on the rebuilding of the Dallas Cowboys Dynasty. He would lead the Cowboys to three Super Bowls titles along being Super Bowl MVP, six-time Pro Bowler, and NFL Hall of Famer.

Twenty years later Score still producing just primarily on football cards. Then there's the 2009 draft...

With Detroit Lions choosing Matthew Stafford with their first pick on this year's draft could he lead the Lions from the depths down below and rise up on top much like Troy Aikman did it with the Cowboys?
